Dungeon Makers’ Guild

Maker Nexus runs youth programs throughout the year. Usually these camps are focused on a single craft, like woodworking or robotics, but part of my job is to design camps that teach a broad range of arts in a fun way. Since I’ve taught dice making so many times, we started to grow that into a whole week-long tabletop RPG camp. It’s like a craft circle and D&D campaign rolled into one.

At the end of Dungeon Makers Guild, the students have a whole set of cool tools to use when playing. We make dice, of course, but we also use the space’s resin printer to produce custom minis. The kids make their own wooden dice trays, they use our fabric printer to make custom bags for their stuff - it’s a delight.

One of the things I’m most proud of with DMG is how well the team works together. It’s not an easy ask - we touch on a bunch of different disciplines in rapid succession and also play a D&D campaign. Maintaining our tools and documentation has been crucial to make things go smoothly.

We started Dungeon Makers for Spring Break 2022, and now we’re into fall sessions! Soon I’ll have to roll over that year on the logo.
